5 miles in 58 minutes

I ran this morning with a group of people with TNT. It made it go by so quickly. It was cold this morning but very nice. I went the first half a little slower and the second half i think i sped up (but without really noticing the difference). I only stopped once at the turn around but other than ran the whole time. That's a first since starting to run 4 miles or more. I love the energy i have after i run. It lasts about an hour and a half. Maybe if i wasn't sitting at my desk it would last longer but it's beginning to dwindle.

Hi,

I came across this blog by accident while doing a search on "rancho san antonio". I love running in the Bay Area. The trails are terrific and so is the weather. Good luck with your running.

Btw, you may have already learnt of these sites from TNT, but in any case, these sites will help you in your training.

Stretching and injury prevention guides.
California all weather tracks
Gmap pedometer (to measure your road runs)
how to tie shoelaces (runners)
Dr. George Sheehan's essays on running
Bargain shops for runners: Sierra Trading post, Zombie Runner, Dirty girl gaiters (for trail running)

Hope these help. There are more sites if you are interested.

I love the gmap pedometer. I can calculate how far I'm running even over here!

You're welcome. I've been running marathons since 2003, and have been accumulating website links since then. Most of these are based on recommendations from veteran runners, whom I trust. I simply pass these sites on to every runner I know and some I do not. :-)

Incidentally, the SMI, Palo Alto site that I had linked (guides) is a great place for marathoners to get deep tissue massages to overcome injuries. They do that even for elite athletes from Stanford. A lot of my friends go there for their ITB issues. [But be advised, check with your insurance provider. :-)]

If you have spouses/partners who do not run, ask them to take a hike - literally - with this group Inch - Interpid Northern California Hikers,

Check out the results of all the races you've run in California so far here.

Cool Running has a nice log where you can log your training runs, write comments, and measure how long you've used those shoes!

I strongly recommend reading running blogs from the Running Blog Family directory. A lot of them are women, including moms. Reading about women's/smommy's running (and non-running) related problems can give you a tip or two. You can start with these and follow the links on their blogs:
Runner Susan, 21st century mom and so on.

Keep running!

Oh, the Bay Area Orienteering Club has great activities you can do for 2-3 hours with your family and get fit!

Thanks again!

Are there any running clubs in the southbay that you've heard are good?

Meredith,

I've heard folks recommending:
Palo Alto Run Club and
Stevens Creek Striders.

The Palo Alto Club is part of the US Road Runner's Club system.

Just last week, there was an article in the Palo Alto backfence (Dan Gilmour blogs there now) about this Nike training program.
