As it Was in the Beginning
So let's start with why I'm starting this blog. My sister and I are hoping to get back into running. We both have done it previously but have stopped for one reason or another. Kids and busy lives being big parts. We're now trying to make exercise a priority and thought that by keeping track together and having to report how we're doing and what we're doing we might stick with it better. My goal is hopefully a half marathon in October and it now looks like it might be a goal for my sister too. We decided on a blog because we are currently living in different countries. My sister has been blogging for a while and has now introduced me to it. I'll be keeping track of where and how long I've run for, how I've felt and any other tid bits.
History of Running:
I haven't been a runner for that long. I joined Team in Training back in Nov. 2003 and ran a half marathon in Feb 2004. Then I got pregnant and continued to run until I was about 4 months pregnant and then I gave it up. Before training for the half marathon the most I had run was 3 miles. Having that support and coaching really made it possible to run further. So currently I'm debating joining TNT again to help meet my goal. I will make that decision in the next month or so. I found in the past that I do a lot better with exercise when I'm committed to it through a class or a team.
First Run:
30 minutes on treadmill at 4.8 (maybe mph)-I was hating it at first because treadmills are so boring but tried to break it down into 5 minute increments to get me through. I would say "Just 5 more minutes" and then when I got there "Just 5 more". Playing mind games on myself works.
