45 minutes again but I'm running farther each time. I think it works out to under a 10 minute mile now but that's about as accurate as I can get using google pedometer. I ran after breakfast which for me is a new time. I don't know if the time had anything to do with it, but I was more sore the next day than I have ever been: back, ankles, hip.

Great job! the weather's been quite good for running. Might as well make the most of it. :-)

The soreness is typically caused by lactic acid build-up. Some ways to reduce it:
- stretch, warm-up run, run, cool down run, stretch.
- icing
- "flush" the acid by lying down on your floor with your legs raised upwards (and supported by a wall). In other words, your body should be like the letter L. Do this for 2-3 minutes, 2-3 times, 15-20 mins after the run.
- Epsom salts in your bath a few hours after the run. You can get them at your local drugstore.

oh, btw. I forgot. I'm sure this is redundant info, but form is important too. Have you tried to shorten your stride and see if that feels better? If you see your socks when you're running, your strides are too long.

OR, this could just be "good soreness", one that is caused by effort and subsequent muscle fatigue. And that can only be a good thing. :-)

Thanks for the tip! I'll try it today.
