22.5:1:6.5 Run:Walk:Run
15 minutes ab work

I was surprised I made it to 22.5 as I was only supposed to go to 18. But I felt good so I figured it was okay. Once I got to 20 I was going to stop but I was on a roll and decided to go until I wanted to stop to walk, which was 22.5. I changed where I run because I went out at 9:00 so I ran where there were a lot of people and it was a good change I think. I think I'm going to switch it up more often.

30 minute bike

Because of my throat and sickness i wasn't sleeping well anyways so i got up and went to the gym this morning and did 30 minutes on the bike. I did it sort of easy and read a book. Jus wanted to get out there and do it. Cross training seems to help. Feel pretty crappy.

Tuesday June 27, 2006
Run 2 miles 23 min 25 sec

I had my first track practice today with TNT. They had met twice before but i hadn't been able to go. They were trying to put us into waves so they wanted to know how fast we run. I worked out to about a 12 minute mile. It was very windy. I'm getting a cold so i wasn't feeling my best. Soar throat and all. We also did some core strength exercises. Overall, a good day.

1st day back running: R13:W3:R6:W2:R3
15 min.ab work

Sucky but I went out so I feel better. I didn't want to overdo it.

Saturday June 24th
4 mile run walk 4:1
Tried a walk run for our run today. This made it very manageable. I was tired at the end a little sore but would have been much more tired had I ran the whole time.

1 hr 15 min Yoga Tuesday night
25 minutes stepping machine at the Y

I had done yoga in two weeks and i could tell. It is something you need to do 2 days a week to really feel the progress. I didn't feel as flexible as before.

The stepper was not that hard but i was able to read my book which i was really happy about. I will have to try the stair climber (similar but it's like you're actually climbing stairs. looks more difficult) next time.

30 min at 5 mph at 0.5 inclince on treadmill

I so didn't want to run today. I'm going through the stage where the newness of running has worn off. But i thought since i've got a lot to do this week it would help my sanity if i ran. I started with a 3 minute walk and really contemplated moving to the bike but i hadn't run since thursday so i made myself do it. I thought at first just to do 20 minutes. Then as i got closer i got myself to do the full 30 minutes. I'm really glad i just did it. Tomorrow i'm hoping to cross train on the climber or the bike at the Y. Those are new so it doesn't seem as hard to motivate to do it. Also i can read while doing them which makes it more fun. Distraction.

Lung infection. You won't be hearing about running from me for a few more days. Friday or Saturday I'm predicting. You keep on keeping on girl.

Thursday 3 mile run with two 1 min walks

Remembered my watch but forgot to start it. So not sure exactly how long it took me. It went well. It was a "buddy run" at 6 am with a group of TNT runners. It was nice and cool so that was a plus. I supposed to run 4 miles this weekend but i'm in Santa Barbara and it's pretty warm so i'm guessing it won't happen.

?:?:? I ran with out my watch today by accident. Still in the middle of the day but there was a lot of cloud cover so I thought it would be better. It was but intermittantly the sun would come out and I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass. I think I did about 17-20min run;45sec-1.5min walk:13 or so minutes run. I switched up my music since the other was getting stale and it was just what I needed. I've got some chest/lung thing now so you probably won't be hearing from me for a couple of days.

Monday June 12th
39 minute run

Let me just start with one word...SNAKE!!! Yes, while i was running a snake was slithering down the road. I jumped so much it would have been very embarrassing if someone had seen me. I can get used to the tons of ground squierrels, the jack rabbits, the skunk, and even the lizards but i truly draw the line at snakes! I could feel my adrenaline kick in as i was running fast away from it. Other than that it was a pretty hard run. I stopped twice to walk for a minute each. It helped. I was trying to up my speed a little. But in the end i was only a minute quicker overall. I don't think that breaks down into much shorter of a time per mile. But i was certainly tired after the run. No pains.

16:1:13 Run:Walk:run = 30 minutes

HOT! I was happy to be done. I can't do heat so I'm going to have to have a different game plan so I can run in the morning before it's too hot.

Saturday June 10, 2006
3 mile Run with TNT

It went well. It goes by a lot quicker when you're chatting with someone. We learned some good stretches for before and after running. I really need to start cross training to help support my running. As the miles get higher I think it will be harder on my knees. I also want to try and keep up with my running partners. They are a bit quicker than I am.

30 minutes 15:1:14 Run:walk:run
45 minute easy bikeride

I ran early today due to last time's lurker and the heat. It's hot and only going to get hotter so I'm going to need to figure out how to make this work. I don't eat enough in the morning to have energy to run first thing and the only way I think I made it today was because last night I ate a load of whole wheat pancakes. Anyway, it went okay. I was running very slow at some points just to make it through. Not good. I like my usual pace.

30 minutes 14:1 run:walk

Was decent - I ran at 9:15 and it was beautiful, lots of people out walking their dogs, warm out but a very strong breeze. Some wierdo started following me, just as I finished so I had to walk back out to where there were more people/cars. I ran two days in a row because I had the energy to do it. I like that now there is only one pause in the running instead of 2 or more because it seems to go by faster that way.

30 minutes 13:1 Run:walk + 2 minutes running

Went running at 9:00 pm and felt okay and strong at the end so I picked up my pace for the last 30 seconds.

Tuesday June 6, 2006
Run 30 minutes
1 hour 15 minutes yoga

I started with a headache but half way through it was gone. Felt pretty strong at the end. My arch started hurting part way through. I don't know how i can avoid that. Yoga was good but i had a headache then too so by the end i was ready to be done. I love that i'm seeing myself become more flexible. Yeah!! But then there are still certain areas where i feel like i've barely made any progress. Tight hips and shoulders.

30 minutes 12:1 Run:Walk + 4 minutes running

HOT!!!! ugh and when I reloaded my ipod it only loaded the first three songs. Not fun but I did it and it's over now. It seemed like the intermittent cloud cover and breeze came just when I needed it though so it wasn't too horrible. I also had two days off and I got my period today which always gives me a lot of energy. Tomorrow 13:1.

update: lungs starting to hurt. hope I don't have kids crappy cold.

30 minutes 11:1 run:walk + 6 minutes run

Today was the first time I ran two days in a row. It went okay. I was making up for Thursday so now I'm right back on track. The whole running routine takes me about 45 minutes (suiting up, walking to warm up, running and cool down) which is a small but important portion of my day. It was hot with a nice breeze and much much better with my new shirt and shorts. Shorts didn't ride up in the middle (good) and shirt deflected the sun instead of absorbing it. Got some new socks but ended up with a blister anyway. Good thing I'm resting tomorrow. Ouch. It's funny, the moment I stop running I feel like utter crap, but like 3 minutes later while I'm cooling down I feel GREAT. I guess that's why we have endorphins.

Update: 6 hours later...my knees hurt.

30 minutes 10:1 Run:Walk + 8 minutes running

Hadn't run for two days so I thought I'd have a lot of energy. I did for the first 10 minutes then like usual the last part was hard. I think it helps when I slow down then I feel like I'm able to make it. I think I started out too fast. Also some foot cramping about 1/2 way through which lessened as I continued. I only had cool/cold weather running wear which makes running in the direct sun while wearing a black top and full running pants a tad uncomfortable. I bought a white short sleeved running shirt and a pair of running shorts today. I'm excited to wear them and I wonder if it will make a difference in how I feel while running.

no lunch = no run

I was supposed to run this morning but i was too tired to get up that early. i will have to try and run tomorrow. Thank goodness it's Thursday and it was even a short work week.
